Pokemon Go is celebrating the changing of the seasons with a Fall Marathon, and as part of the event, a ghostly new Pokemon has arrived in time for Halloween. The haunted tumbleweed Bramblin is now appearing for a limited time, making this your first chance to catch one in the mobile game, but tracking one down may not be so straightforward.
Unlike most of the event’s other featured Pokemon, Bramblin will only appear under certain circumstances, so you’ll need to put in a bit of work if you’re hoping to add one to your collection. To help out, here are some tips on how to catch and evolve Bramblin before the Fall Marathon event ends.

The Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event begins at 10 AM local time on October 13 and runs for just under a week, concluding at 8 PM local time on October 19.
Throughout the event, certain Pokemon like Electrike, Doduo, and Blitzle will spawn in the wild more frequently, while Hisuian Growlithe, Galarian Ponyta, and others will appear when you use Incense. A few different bonuses will also be available during the event, including increased odds of encountering shiny Electrike and extended Incense duration.

How To Catch Bramblin
There are two ways to encounter Bramblin during the Fall Marathon, the first of which is by using Incense. Unlike some of the event’s other featured Pokemon, Bramblin won’t appear in the wild on its own; the tumbleweed Pokemon will only spawn after you’ve activated an Incense, which will draw out more Pokemon as you walk around for a set amount of time.
Fortunately, Incenses are easy to come by in Pokemon Go. You can purchase a single one from the in-game item shop for 40 coins, or a bundle of eight for a discounted 250 coins. You can also receive some as rewards for completing certain Research tasks.
The second way to encounter Bramblin is by leveling up your Fall Marathon Go Pass. Hit Rank 30 before the event ends and you’ll earn a chance to catch a Bramblin. You can also encounter Bramblin by completing the « Earn a Candy exploring with your buddy » Research task.
How To Evolve Bramblin Into Brambleghast
Bramblin’s arrival in Pokemon Go means its evolved form, Brambleghast, is also available in the game, but you’ll need to do some legwork to get one. In order to evolve Bramblin, you’ll need to use 50 Bramblin candy after you’ve walked 20 km with the tumbleweed Pokemon set as your buddy.
Given how scarce Bramblin currently is, it may take a bit of time to amass the requisite candies, but there are a couple of ways you can expedite the process. The easiest way to collect Bramblin candy is to catch and transfer as many Bramblin as you can, so continue using Incense during the Fall Marathon to lure out the ghostly tumbleweed. You can also convert any Rare Candies that you have into Bramblin candy to speed things up.
Once you’ve collected enough candy, select the Bramblin you’d like to evolve and set it as your buddy Pokemon. From there, simply walk around while playing the game until you’ve hit the 20 km requirement.
Can Bramblin Be Shiny?
At the moment, shiny Bramblin is not yet available in Pokemon Go. There’s no word on when the tumbleweed’s shiny variant will be added to the game, but it will likely arrive as part of a future event sometime down the line.
Pokemon Go’s Fall Marathon will only be live for a few days, but the mobile game still has a few other big events lined up for this month, including another Max Battle Day and the annual Halloween celebration. You can read more in our Pokemon Go October events roundup.
