Fragment of world’s oldest known peace treaty found in Turkey

Archaeologists excavating at Hattusha, the ancient Hittite capital in north-central Turkey, uncovered a cuneiform fragment of the Treaty of Kadesh. The 3,400-year-old treaty, signed around 1269 B.C. by Ramesses II and Hattusili III, is regarded as the world’s oldest known peace treaty and includes provisions on refugees. [livescience.com]
