Germany turns former coal mines into Europe’s largest lake landscape

Eastern Germany’s Lusatian Lakeland is nearing completion as flooding finishes the final lake, Sedlitz. The 14,000-hectare project will open new swimming and boating areas in a landscape created from former lignite mines. [euronews.com]
